My path to working in Mental Health started through my experience as a high school art teacher. While teaching, I learned the impact of building relationships founded on care and trust. I began to realize that while I loved teaching, I had the potential to do more with an education in clinical mental health. I am currently a student at CU Denver, and I am excited to deepen my knowledge through experience and mentorship.
I focus on using techniques that are rooted in mindfulness, physical processing, owning and narrating experiences, and facing the parts of ourselves that may be overlooked. I believe that experiential learning is paramount to the human experience, and I plan to use that in my therapeutic practice. As an artist and art teacher, I have witnessed art change a person's perspective countless times, and I will always find ways to bring art into my work. I also spend time in my garden, with my cat and dog, and in the mountains, and believe that plants, nature, and animals are our greatest teachers.
